What Is Tool Calling?
Tool calling is when an LLM doesn’t just generate text — it outputs a structured request to run a specific action, like “search the web” or “read this file,” and waits for the result before continuing. The model can’t actually run anything itself; it just asks, and something else — your code, or a connected service — decides whether to do it.
