This tutorial will show you how to add Slider Controls for the Wiggle Expression in Adobe After Effects CC 2022. This makes it very easy to control the Frequency & Amplitude settings of the Wiggle Expression.


**Software Used:
**Adobe After Effects CC 2022 (Click To Try or Buy)

**Wiggle Expression Used:
**wiggle(5,20)

  • Frequency (first number): The number of times the animation will move per second
  • Amplitude (second number): How much animation will move

Keyboard Shortcut:

  1. Tap EE to reveal all expressions
  2. Cmd/Ctrl + D to Duplicate Slider Controls

How To Add the Wiggle Expression Adobe After Effects CC 2022::

  1. Create a new Composition
  2. Add a graphics layer such as a logo that you want to ‘Wiggle’
  3. Select the logo layer
  4. Tap ‘P’ to bring up the Position Property
  5. Press the Option(Mac) or Alt(Windows) key and click on the stopwatch next to Position
  6. Type in the Wiggle Expression: wiggle(5,20)

How To Add Slider Controls to the Wiggle Expression Adobe After Effects CC 2022:

  1. Select layer with Wiggle Expression
  2. Go to top Menu and select Effect…Expression Controls…Slider Control
  3. Go to Effect Controls
  4. Select Slider Control and tap Enter to Rename to Frequency
  5. Duplicate Frequency Control by selecting and right-clicking…duplicate or use the keyboard shortcut Cmd/Ctrl + D
  6. Rename 2nd Slider Control by selecting…tap Enter/Return…type in Amplitude
  7. Go to Wiggle Expression in the Timeline (Tap EE to show all expressions)
  8. Select the first number (highlight with cursor)
  9. Look to the left of timeline for Position Property and select the pick whip icon (curly circle)
  10. Drag the pick whip to the Frequency Slider Control in ‘Effect Controls’
  11. Repeat for the 2nd Number, but drag the pick whip to the Amplitude Slider
  12. Change the numbers for each Slider Control to 5 & 20 Respectively (or any numbers you like)
  13. Press Spacebar to preview
  14. Done
