This tutorial will show you how to preserve the Frame Rate and/or Resolution in Adobe After Effects CC 2024 when nesting Compositions or adding to the Render Queue.
Adobe After Effects CC 2024: How To Preserve Frame Rate & Resolution
**Description:
**This tutorial will show you how to preserve the Frame Rate and/or Resolution in Adobe After Effects CC 2024 when nesting Compositions or adding to the Render Queue.
**Default Settings (when Nesting Compositions):
**When nesting Compositions (dragging one Comp into another), the nest Composition will ‘inherit’ the Frame Rate & Resolution of the Composition it has been added to.
Preserve Frame Rate:
Ticking the box will preserve the Frame Rate so it does not ‘inherit’ the Frame Rate when nested or added to Render Queue.
Preserve Resolution:
Ticking this box will preserve the Resolution of the Composition when nested into another Comp with a different Resolution setting.

How To Preserve Frame Rate & Resolution of Nested Compositions:
- Open Adobe After Effects
- Open Composition 2
- Open ‘Composition Settings’ (Cmd/Ctrl + K)
- Go to ‘Advanced’ Tab
- Tick the box ‘Preserve Frame Rate when Nested or in Render Queue’
- Tick the box ‘Preserve Resolution When Nested’
- Click ‘OK’
- Drag Composition 2 onto Composition 1
- Composition 2 Frame Rate & Resolution should be the original settings
- Modify as necessary by opening Comp Settings (Cmd/Ctrl + K) and clicking ‘Advanced’
