**Waveform Workflow:
**The Waveform in Adobe Audition is considered ‘Destructive Editing’ as the original audio file is permanently changed after applying and saving edits. Always make a copy or backup of the original audio file when editing in the Waveform Editor.
- **Pros:
**This is the fastest and easy of the two options as once you click ‘Save’ in Audition, the audio layer in After Effects automatically updates with the edits and effects added in Audition. - **Cons:
**The edits are ‘baked-in’ to the original audio file, so you must be sure to work on a copy of the original in After Effects.
**Multitrack Workflow:
**The Multitrack in Adobe Audition is considered ‘Non-Destructive Editing’ as you do not ‘apply’ the effects and the original audio file is not changed or altered.
- **Pros:
**The original audio file is not permanently changed and you can go back into Audition at any time to modify the Multitrack Session and edit the Effect Rack. - **Cons:
**This method requires some extra steps as the audio layer in After Effects does not auto-update when Saving a Multitrack Session. You must export the Multitrack Session as an audio file and then import and replace the file in After Effects manually.
