🗞️ AI News of The Week: Anthropic Files for Its IPO

The company behind Claude is getting ready to sell shares on the stock market.

On Monday, Anthropic made its IPO paperwork public with the SEC. It plans to list on the Nasdaq under the ticker ANT, and shares could start trading as soon as November.

The filing also gave us our first real look at Anthropic:

  • Revenue: About $16.3 billion in the first half of 2026, up roughly 1,300% from a year earlier.
  • Losses: About $81 billion on paper, mostly from an accounting change on investor notes rather than day-to-day spending.
  • Control: Anthropic stays a public benefit corporation. New shareholders won’t get a deciding vote, and a trust focused on its safety mission elects most of the board.
  • Anyone (hopefully me!) will be able to own a piece of the company behind the AI tools you use.

🧠 AI Term of The Week: Observability

Definition: Observability is the ability to see what your software or AI agent did, step by step, by recording its actions, results, and errors.

Explain Like I’m 5: It’s a flight recorder for your AI helper. When something goes wrong, you can play back exactly what happened.

Real examples:

  • Your AI agent emails a client the wrong file, and the activity log shows it grabbed last month’s version from the shared folder.
  • AI agents now work in the background without you watching. Observability is how you check their work afterward.
