🗞️ AI News of The Week: America.gov Gets A Brain

The federal government wants one AI-powered front door for everything.
The White House has launched America.gov, a single site where Americans can sign in, ask questions in plain language, and eventually complete government transactions without bouncing between agency websites. All powered by AI.
Why this matters:
- The site is not just for answers. Renew your passport, check taxes, Medicare, and more.
- 27,000 websites compiled into one.
- Americans spend around 10 billion hours a year on federal paperwork, and this is a direct swing at that maze.
- AI as the interface: instead of hunting through menus, you just ask.

🧠 AI Term of The Week: Computer Use
Definition: An AI capability for operating software through its on-screen interface by clicking, typing, scrolling, and navigating.
Explain Like I’m 5: Your helper uses the screen, mouse, and keyboard much like you do.
Real examples:
- An AI agent logs into a web app that has no API and pulls last month’s numbers for you.
- OpenAI’s new Dots get their own computer to run errands across your apps (more in the Tool section below).

🧰 AI Tool of The Week: OpenAI Dots

Dots are always-on, personal AI agents inside ChatGPT, powered by GPT-6 Astra, that work in the background on goals you assign them. They are taking the internet by storm.
What it does:
- Each Dot has its own computer to work across 4,000+ apps through the plugins you connect in ChatGPT.
- Lets you set boundaries: what it can do on its own, when it should ask first, and what it should never do.
- Takes instructions where you already work, like Slack and Teams, with text message support coming soon.
