🗞️****AI News of The Week: AI Podcast Slop or Future of Podcasting?

5,000 Podcasts. 3,000 Episodes a Week. $1 Cost Per Episode. A startup called Inception Point AI is shaking up podcasting with mass AI-generated shows and sparking major controversy in the ‘podcast universe’. Many in the podcast community think this startup is undermining creators and flooding the podcast directories with AI-generated audio content that is inauthentic and what many have called AI Slop.

Inception Point AI, led by my former boss at Simplecast, Jeanine Wright, is mass-producing podcasts using AI-generated hosts and personalities. According to the article:

The startup creates over 3,000 episodes a week at a cost of around $1 per episode, aiming for scale and profitability through automation and programmatic advertising. With more than 5,000 shows and 10 million downloads since September 2023, the company sees AI podcasts as a new genre rather than a replacement for human hosts, and is experimenting with expanding its AI personalities across social media and short-form video.

🧠******AI Term of The Week:**Tokenization

Before AI models can “read” your text prompts, they break it into pieces called tokens. A token might be a word, part of a word, or even punctuation. For example, “creativity” could become [“cre”, “ativ”, “ity”] depending on the model.

Why it matters? Tokens = Costs. Every prompt and response you generate costs tokens. Knowing how tokenization works helps you optimize your inputs and understand pricing better, especially if you’re building with OpenAI or similar tools.

💬 Quote of the Week:

❝

“We must free ourselves of the hope that the sea will ever rest. We must learn to sail in high winds.”

– Aristotle

🧰 AI Tool of The Week: LangChain

LangChain is the backbone of many advanced AI apps. It is an open-source framework for building applications powered by large language models (LLMs). LangChain lets developers and no-coders build powerful language-based workflows using chains, agents, tools, and memory. Whether you’re building a chatbot, search tool, or multi-step automation, LangChain is worth exploring.
